*State tax credits do not hurt your chances of getting a green card or citizenship! In fact, it’s a good idea to establish a public record of earning income and filing your taxes.

No Social Security Number? No Problem!

The IRS issues ITINs (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) to help individuals comply with U.S. tax laws and efficiently process tax returns/ payments for those not eligible for a Social Security number. Californians who file their taxes with an ITIN number can qualify for CalEITC and YCTC, including undocumented workers.

If you do not yet have an ITIN number or need to renew one, you can apply for an ITIN in person using IRS-authorized Certified Acceptance Agent. This will prevent you from having to mail your proof of identity and foreign status documents. Follow the link or call 1-844-545-5640. For more information on how to apply for an ITIN number, click the button below!
